In the Smallville promo reel from Season 10 shown at Comic-Con, Kara and Jonathan weren't the only returning faces that we saw... there was someone else. Who was it? While more transcribing interviews are going on, here's a quick snippet from Executive Producer Kelly Souders...

Today in the Comic-Con press room, I have learned that Cat Grant in the episode "Shield" will be played by Keri Lynn Pratt.

The official Facebook page of actor James Marsters has revealed that he will be returning as Brainiac in the show's 200th episode, "Homecoming."

Exclusive Scoop for JM-TOP Fans: James Marsters will reprise the role of Brainiac (aka Milton Fine) in the special 200th episode of SMALLVILLE! The episode will air on the CW (US) sometime this autumn as part of the series' 10th and final season.
Unfortunately this was probably a huge surprise that was being saved for Comic-Con, but now the show's producers and Marsters himself have confirmed it, though adding there is MORE big news to be announced on Sunday.

UPDATED 7/26/10: TVGuide.com has revealed that Jessica Parker Kennedy will be returning in this episode as Plastique. Incidentally, the character that was originally planned to come in with the ability to teleport was supposed to be Nightshade of the Suicide Squad. Maybe she'll show up later in the season instead.
UPDATED 7/25/10: Lois has a scene in the desert with Carter Hall where she learns some things that makes her better understand the recent changes in her life.
- Cat Grant will indeed be played by Keri Lynn Pratt.
- We heard rumblings at the Con that the Suicide Squad's "Deadshot" will make an appearance. Could he be Liam? We didn't get to ask, sadly.
UPDATED 7/22/10: EW's Ausiello has confirmed that "Nancie" is indeed Cat Grant. Though we can't confirm it, a blonde is either close to or has already gotten the role...
- Apparently the "Liam" character is also a code for someone else. By the way, he's not a cowboy, just acts like one - and he has a bullet with Clark's name written on it.
UPDATED 7/25/10: Justin Hartley assumes his chest scar will be fixed because he is naked at some point early in the season. He also let it slip that a big part of his arc will involve Chloe, and that he will be "joining up," possibly with the Suicide Squad.
- The "villain from the past?" All interviews are pointing to it being a Lex clone. Brian Peterson tells us Lex "always has a back up plan."
- It sounds as though Allison Mack will be in the premiere as Chloe before leaving, though she will be back later in the season. A scene in the promo reel showed Chloe holding Doctor Fate's helmet.
- Lois says the word "Superman" in the preview reel.
- We DO see a costume, made up of the Brandon Routh suit. It is in the same box Martha left for Clark in the season finale.

A sequence for the season premiere was filmed last week on location at the Kent Farm. The scene involved Tom Welling and John Schneider. (Thanks to "TWismycrush" on the KryptonSite Forums for that info!)
Smallville returns on September 24, and surely some announcements are coming on Sunday at Comic-Con, but for right now we have news of two characters making return appearances.
First, we can confirm that Alessandro Juliani will be making a return appearance in the season premiere, "Lazarus," as Dr. Emil Hamilton.
Then, we also have gotten confirmation thatMichael Shanks will again be appearing as Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, in the second episode of the season, titled "Shield." We don't know yet if other rumors about the episode are true, but hey, it's a good start!
An enemy from Clark's past factors heavily into this story.
- There is a visit to the JSA brownstone in the season premiere.
- The show's producers have hinted that a mysterious "Skeleton Key" also is a part of the episode.
UPDATED 7/15/10: The presence of Jonathan Kent is just one of the big surprises planned for the episode.
- Chances are good that we will find an answer to whether or not Lois figured out Clark's "other identity" in this one.
10:2- Shield
- A really annoying-seeming character named "Nancie" who has a son is in this episode. She comes to work at the Daily Planet, and she seems to be filling in while Lois is... where? We don't know. At one point she listens on the radio to someone named "Godfrey," which could be a reference to Glorious Godfrey of Darkseid lore. The radio "Godfrey" has a thing against "the hero menace," much like he did in the 1980's Legendscomic book series.
- A character from the comics who works at the Daily Planet and at one point had a young son is Cat Grant. Could "Nancie" be a "Cassie/Zatanna, Melissa/Maxima" like diversion?
- The episode also includes a modern day cowboy named Liam who's gunning after Clark Kent - and a woman with the ability to teleport.
10:3- Supergirl
sorry no info on this episode yet, only that Kara returns as i said in last post.
10:4- Homecoming(The 200th Episode)
No info yet, but this episode is important and will feature a couple return charecters like Jonathon Kent(John Shenieder) and Martha Kent.

Writer Anne Cofell Saunders has confirmed that "Supergirl" will be the third episode of Smallville Season 10, and that she will be writing it.
Laura Vandervoot will return as Kara, Clarks Kryptonian cousin in the Third Episode of the 10th season!
An interesting scene has been distributed among casting directors, allegedly for the second episode of Smallville Season 10.
The scene involves what we think is a flashback from Carter Hall/Hawkman's perspective, as Shayera (aka Hawkgirl, his wife) stands in front of him in an 1800's Chinese robe.
The romantic scene turns to one where Shayera slaps Carter, so we're not really sure how this fits in there.
We've attempted to get official confirmation on this, that it is actually part of the episode, but we have been unable to thus far. It could be possible this scene is being cast for a future episode, despite being marked for Episode#10.2. However, if it IS for Episode #10.2... then we might be seeing Michael Shanks as Carter Hall again... and Shayera just might be in tow.
